The Theatre Department at WOU provides students with a solid base in acting, directing, technical theatre and design, performance, history, literature and theory. Students can pursue the more flexible BA degree with possible concentrations in Acting and Technical Theatre or the BFA in Theatre Teacher Education (which leads to teacher licensure). The Theatre Department also offers a Minor in Theatre.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Theatre Department produces one Mainstage production<\/a> per term. <\/span>There are also staged readings, student directed plays, and smaller studio productions throughout the year. Participation in theatrical productions during the regular academic year are open to all registered students, faculty and staff. Additionally, WOU\u2019s Summer Theatre\u00a0produces a fully mounted play every summer with students, faculty, community members and guest professionals. Auditions and tech appointments are open to all registered students.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This program aims to provide a solid base in acting, directing, technical theatre and design, performance, history, literature and theory. Students will be prepared for a wide variety of post-graduate opportunities while still retaining the freedom to explore areas of specialized interest, including concentrations in Acting, Technical Theatre, or a general Theatre course of study.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/h1>\n

PRODUCTIONS<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

The Theatre Department produces one Mainstage production<\/a>\u00a0per term. There are also staged readings, student directed plays, and smaller studio productions throughout the year. Participation in theatrical productions during the regular academic year are open to all registered students, faculty and staff. Additionally, WOU\u2019s Summer Theatre\u00a0produces a fully mounted play every summer with students, faculty, community members and guest professionals. Auditions and tech appointments are open to all registered students. Theatre is a great outlet to make friends, build confidence, and acquire new skills.<\/span><\/p>\n
