The Applied Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Certificate is designed to support educators and school personnel in developing foundational, responsive and transformative social emotional learning practices.<\/p>\n

You will learn the best techniques for building collaborative partnerships with families, students, and the larger educational community, to ensure your students are getting the care and support they need using evidence-based and age-appropriate strategies.<\/p>\n

You can take this class at either the undergraduate or graduate level and through either admitted or non-admitted status. We want to provide maximum flexibility\u00a0to participants to help them accomplish their individual goals. We are also prepared to do group registration for teams of educators from\u00a0schools or districts.     Foundations of Social-Emotional Learning Practices<\/h3>\n

    In this course, you’ll learn about the foundations of children and adolescents\u2019 social-emotional learning and wellbeing. This course considers cognitive, family and humanistic perspectives, and introduces CASEL\u2019s framework of social-emotional learning.<\/a><\/p>\n

    We’ll explore ways to integrate social-emotional learning into daily school practices and subject teaching through community building in schools and classrooms, character development, lesson planning and instruction, and family-school collaborations.<\/p>\n

    You will also learn the importance of self-care for teachers, educators and staff working in school settings.<\/p>\n

    Transformative Social and Emotional Learning<\/h3>\n

    Summer – June 21st to July 30th<\/span><\/p>\n

    The emphasis of this course is critical self-reflection and generative brainstorming. As a group, we will discuss ideas for creating safe school climates that support the well-being of staff and students, promoting school-wide cultures of acceptance, and increasing understanding of instructional strategies that support SEL and equity.<\/p>\n

    This course will push you to implement justice-oriented teaching practices and use culture, identity, agency, and belonging to create access to the five core SEL competencies.<\/p>\n
