Our undergraduate teacher training program prepares you to be a teacher in Pre-K-12 classrooms. Graduates leave the four-year program with a bachelor\u2019s degree and an Oregon teaching license.\u00a0 Students have the flexibility of starting their teacher preparation as a freshman at WOU or starting at a community college, and then transferring to WOU.\u00a0 We also have a flexible pathway for future Elementary Teachers who want to get their teaching license in an evening\/weekend\/online format.<\/p>\n

            Year 4
            Professional Licensure Program<\/span><\/h3>\n

            The Professional Licensure Program takes three, full-time terms to complete. You’ll meet regularly on campus with your cohort group for upper-level courses on pedagogy and classroom management. You’ll also be completing a full year of student teaching in a local public school.<\/p>\n

            Cohort groups begin fall and winter terms. You are encouraged to work closely with our pre-education advisor to stay on track and up-to-date with the entrance requirements\u00a0and application\u00a0deadlines.<\/p>\n

                    Professional Licensure Program<\/h2>\r\n

                    • Undergraduate students complete this program as the final year of their Bachelor\u2019s Degree.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t
                    • Post-baccalaureate students complete this program after meeting prerequisite courses.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nThe 38-43 credit hour Professional Licensure Program is a full-time format, taking three terms to complete. Students meet regularly on campus with their cohort group in addition to completing a full year of student teaching experience in local public schools. During the first term, candidates may take an additional course outside of the professional program. During the final two terms, the rigorous professional program requires full time involvement in teacher education.<\/span>\r\n\r\nCohort groups begin fall and winter terms.
