Discover Leadership\u00a0is a program at Western Oregon University created to help students who may have limited experience with leadership learn essential skills to increase their confidence and enhance their knowledge. This program helps prepare students for different leadership opportunities<\/a> on campus, such as becoming a Resident Assistant, WOU Crew Member, Programming Assistant, Student Government Official, and more. It is also a great way to meet new friends and learn about campus resources.<\/p>\n

When<\/h2>\n

Students can fill out the Discover Leadership application on Involve<\/a> when it opens before a class offering. The class is usually offered one to two times per year. Terms vary, but it is usually offered at least during the fall term.<\/p>\n

Students will meet once a week throughout the fall and winter terms. Each session will focus on a new topic with a different on-campus presenter. Each week will include team-building activities and an opportunity to network with other student participants. All other sessions will be on Tuesday evenings from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm.<\/p>\n

Who<\/h2>\n

Any student who wants to enhance their leadership skills! The program is geared towards students with little leadership experience and who are new to WOU. Transfer students and non-traditional students are also encouraged to join!<\/p>\n

Cost<\/h2>\n

The program is FREE! Also, all participants who complete all the workshops will be recognized at a banquet. There is no cost to the participants.<\/p>\n

    \n\nWhen<\/strong>: Students will meet once a week throughout fall and winter term. Each session will focus on a new topic with a different on-campus presenter. Each week will include team building activities and an opportunity to network with other student participants. The program will conclude with a full-day Focus on Leadership conference on January 23, 2016 and team building challenge course on January 30, 2016. All other sessions will be on Tuesday evenings from 5:30-7pm, starting October 20, 2015.<\/span>\n\nWho<\/strong>: Any student who wants to enhance their leadership skills! The program is geared towards students who do not have a lot of leadership experiences and are new to WOU. Transfer students and non-traditional students are encouraged to join as well!<\/span>\n\nCost<\/strong>: FREE! Also, all participants that complete all the workshops will be recognized at banquet.
