See the NCAA Banned Substance list on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncaa.org\/sport-science-institute\/topics\/2020-21-ncaa-banned-substances\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NCAA site.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The NCAA bans the following classes of drugs:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Stimulants<\/li>\n<li>Anabolic agents<\/li>\n<li>Alcohol and beta blockers (banned for rifle only)<\/li>\n<li>Diuretics and masking agents<\/li>\n<li>Narcotics<\/li>\n<li>Cannabinoids<\/li>\n<li>Peptide hormones, growth factors, related substances and mimetics<\/li>\n<li>Hormone and metabolic medulators (anti-estrogens)<\/li>\n<li>Beta-2 agonists<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><em>Note:\u00a0 Any substance chemically related to these classes is also banned. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The institution and the student-athlete shall be held accountable for all drugs within the banned drug class regardless of whether they have been specifically identified.<\/p>\n<p>Drugs and Procedures Subject to Restrictions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Blood doping<\/li>\n<li>Gene doping<\/li>\n<li>Local anesthetics (permitted under some conditions)<\/li>\n<li>Manipulation or tampering of urine samples<\/li>\n<li>Beta-2 agonists (permitted only by inhalation with prescription)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"background: #e7e7e7; width: 100%; padding: 20px;\">\n<p><strong>NCAA Nutritional\/Dietary Supplements WARNING:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Before consuming any nutritional\/dietary supplement product, review the product with the appropriate or designated athletics department staff!<\/p>\n<p>Dietary supplements, including vitamins and minerals, are not well regulated and may cause a positive drug test result.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Student-athletes have tested positive and lost their eligibility using dietary supplements.<\/li>\n<li>Many dietary supplements are contaminated with banned drugs not listed on the label.<\/li>\n<li>Any product containing a dietary supplement ingredient is taken at your own risk.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Check with the Athletics staff prior to using a supplement.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Some Examples of NCAA Banned Substances in Each Drug Class<\/p>\n<p><strong>THERE IS NO COMPLETE LIST OF BANNED SUBSTANCES.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>Do not rely on this list to rule out any label ingredient.<\/u><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Stimulants: <\/em><\/strong>amphetamine (Adderall); caffeine (guarana); cocaine; ephedrine;\u00a0\u00a0 methamphetamine; methylphenidate (Ritalin); synephrine (bitter orange); methylhexanamine (DMAA); \u201cbath salts\u201d (mephedrone); Octopamine; DMBA; phenethylamines (PEAs); etc.\u00a0\u00a0 <strong><em>exceptions:<\/em><\/strong> phenylephrine and pseudoephedrine are not banned<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Anabolic Agents<\/em><\/strong> <em>(sometimes listed as a chemical formula, such as 3,6,17-androstenetrione):\u00a0 <\/em>Androstenedione; boldenone; clenbuterol; DHEA (7-Keto); epi-trenbolone; testosterone; etiocholanolone; methasterone; methandienone; nandrolone; norandrostenedione; stanozolol; stenbolone; trenbolone; SARMS (ostarine, ligandrol, LGD-4033); etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Alcohol and Beta Blockers (banned for rifle only):<\/em><\/strong> alcohol; atenolol; metoprolol; nadolol; pindolol; propranolol; timolol; etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Diuretics (water pills) and Other Masking Agents<\/em><\/strong>: bumetanide; chlorothiazide; furosemide; hydrochlorothiazide; probenecid; spironolactone (canrenone); triameterene; trichlormethiazide; etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Illicit Drugs:<\/em><\/strong> heroin; marijuana; tetrahydrocannabinol (THC); synthetic cannabinoids (e.g., spice, K2, JWH-018, JWH-073)<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Peptide Hormones and Analogues:<\/em><\/strong> growth hormone(hGH); human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG); erythropoietin (EPO); IGF-1 (colostrum); etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Anti-Estrogens:<\/em><\/strong> anastrozole; tamoxifen; formestane; ATD, clomiphene; SERMS (nolvadex); Arimidex; clomid; evista; fulvestrant; aromatase inhibitors (Androst-3,5-dien-7,17-dione), etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Beta-2 Agonists:<\/em><\/strong> bambuterol; formoterol; salbutamol; salmeterol; higenamine; norcoclaurine; etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Any substance that is chemically related to one of the above classes, <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>even if it is not listed as an example, is also banned<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Information about ingredients in medications and nutritional\/dietary supplements can be obtained by <strong>contacting Drug Free Sport AXIS, 877-202-0769 or <a href=\"https:\/\/axis.drugfreesport.com\/login\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">drugfreesport.com\/axis <\/a>(password: ncaa2). <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>It is your responsibility to check with the appropriate or designated Athletics staff before using any substance.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_tab][et_pb_tab title=&#8221;Tobacco use&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>All tobacco products are prohibited at university-sponsored activities (travel, practice, and competition) and on campus property including in cars parked in campus lots. In addition, the NCAA prohibits use of tobacco products by a student-athlete during practice and competition. A student-athlete who uses tobacco products during a practice or competition will be disqualified for the remainder of that practice or competition. Disciplinary action for other violations of the tobacco policy is at the discretion of the director of athletics.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_tab][et_pb_tab title=&#8221;Drug and alcohol use&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Possession and use of illegal drugs and\/or alcohol is strictly prohibited (regardless of age) whenever a student-athlete travels as an official representative of Western Oregon University. Such conduct is considered a serious violation of the Student-Athlete Code of Conduct. Misconduct in connection with the use of drugs and\/or alcohol, either on- or off-campus, is cause for disciplinary action.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_tab][et_pb_tab title=&#8221;NCAA Drug Testing Policy&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>In order to remain eligible for NCAA competition, student-athletes must complete the NCAA Drug Testing Consent Form annually. Results of drug tests will remain confidential except for disclosure to those persons authorized by the drug testing programs. Urinalysis will be performed randomly in order to check for substances on the list of drugs banned by the NCAA Executive Committee (see above). These include stimulants (such as amphetamines and cocaine), anabolic steroids and other drugs. <strong><em>All nutritional or dietary supplements carry some risk of containing an NCAA banned substance because they are not well-regulated and may be contaminated. Failure to check out a supplement with the sports medicine staff before use may result in a failed appeal for a positive drug test. Ultimately, student-athletes are responsible for anything they ingest. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Consequences of a positive drug test:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A student-athlete who tests positive shall be withheld from competition in all sports for a minimum of 365 days from the drug test collection date and shall lose one year of eligibility.<\/li>\n<li>A student-athlete who tests positive has an opportunity to appeal the positive drug test.<\/li>\n<li>A student-athlete who tests positive a second time for the use of any drug other than a \u201cstreet drug\u201d shall lose all remaining regular-season and postseason eligibility in all sports.
