The\u00a0Career Mentoring Program (CMP) connects current students with alumni mentors to help them prepare for life after WOU by developing career readiness through exploration, skill building and networking.<\/p>\n
According to\u00a0a spring 2016 needs assessment, nearly 85% of Western students said they had been thinking about careers they were interested in quite a bit or a great deal within the past six months and 75% were\u00a0interested in having a mentor to help them explore future career options.<\/p>\n
This program also gives alumni the opportunity to connect with the campus and current students in a meaningful way.<\/p>\n
While mentoring has various definitions and may mean something different among individuals, for the purposes of this program,\u00a0mentoring is defined as a mutually beneficial and dynamic relationship between a mentor (alumni) and mentee (current student) involving intentional conversations around career exploration and professional development. <\/span><\/p>\n This will be accomplished through critical thinking, established goals, and\u00a0<\/span>the sharing of knowledge, skills, and experiences within the partnership.<\/p>\n CMP is semi-structured in the sense that we are here to assist you at any point, but the connections you make are really driven by the mentoring relationships themselves.
