Throughout orientation, you’ll have the opportunity to work with Western Oregon University’s excellent student affairs staff. Our team welcomes all students as they embark on their journey to college success. We’re here to help and guide you in the right direction!

New Student and Family Programs

Megan Habermann-Guthrie

She/Her/Hers | Director, New Student and Family Programs

Megan earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies from the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay and her Master of Science in College Student Personnel from the University of Rhode Island. She previously worked in the Campus Activities Office at Vassar College and has been at Western since 2009. Megan’s favorite part of working with new students is the fresh perspectives and energy they bring to Western. They truly change the landscape of campus! Her favorite orientation activity is Playfair because it always brings new friends together and is a fun way to start New Student Week. A fun fact about Megan is that Meryl Streep once used her cell phone!

Shelby Worthing

She/Her/Hers | Coordinator, New Student and Family Programs

Shelby earned her Bachelor of Science in Economics from Western Oregon University and has been at Western since 2017. Shelby’s favorite part of working with new students is watching them make new friends, grow as adults, and make WOU their new home away from home. Her favorite orientation activity is the Variety Show, watching all of the new students show off their talents and find similar interests. A fun fact about Shelby is that she’s obsessed with Halloween and board games!

Cheyanne Bumgardner

She/Her/Hers | Co-Coordinator, Orientation PLUS Team

Cheyanne is a senior at Western studying a major in American Sign Language/English Interpreting Studies with minors in Psychology and ASL. She serves as a co-coordinator for both the Orientation PLUS Team and Campus Ambassadors Team, as well as the Campus Visitation Coordinator. Cheyanne’s favorite part of working with new students is introducing them to resources and opportunities that help them feel safe, supported, and successful on campus. Her favorite orientation activities are the fun and educational workshops that introduce students to new ideas and prepare them for their time in college. A fun fact about Cheyanne is that she used to be a competitive gymnast and dancer!

Madi Knox

She/Her/Hers | Co-Coordinator, Orientation PLUS Team

Madi is a senior at Western Oregon University studying a major in Early Childhood/Elementary Education with a minor in Theatre Arts. Madi serves as a co-coordinator of the Orientation PLUS Team, as well as a trustee on the WOU Foundation Board and a Campus Ambassador. She also served two years as the Executive Director of Public Relations for the Associated Students of Western Oregon University. Madi’s favorite part of working with new students is helping them find their places in the world as they grow into themselves in college. Her favorite orientation activities are the diversity of speakers who come in and inspire the new students. A fun fact about Madi is that she once read the entire Harry Potter series upside-down!

Multicultural Student Services and Programs

Luanne Carillo

She/Her/Hers/Ella | Director, Multicultural Student Services and Programs

Luanne earned her Bachelor of Science in Community Health and her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Western Oregon University, and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership & Policy from Portland State University. She has been at Western since 2014. Luanne’s favorite part of working with new students is helping them overcome the imposter syndrome feeling and recognizing their first achievement of making it to college. Her favorite orientation activities are those that provide a motivational keynote speaker. When students can relate to a story being shared, it gives students the sense of belonging and the confidence to know that they can be successful. A fun fact about Luanne is that during her time as a student at WOU, she visited 10 different countries!

Akaanchya Pradhan

She/Her/Hers | Assistant Director, Multicultural Student Services and Programs

Akaanchya earned her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Western Oregon University and her Master of Education from Oregon State University. She has been at Western since 2016. Akaanchya’a favorite part of working with new students is witnessing their excitement to start their journey as a college student, as well as assisting with making their transition into WOU more meaningful. A fun fact about Akaanchya is that she enjoys visiting the Oregon Coast!

Blanca Miranda Aguilar

She/Her/Hers/Ella | Program Advisor & Coordinator, Multicultural Student Services and Programs

Blanca earned her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with focuses in Education and Social Sciences from Western Oregon University. She has been at Western since 2021. Blanca’s favorite part of working with new students is helping them network and see how much potential they have. A fun fact about Blanca is that she broke her ankle the summer going into her freshmen year here at WOU, so many of the staff members know her as the girl with the scooter!

Marshall Habermann-Guthrie

He/Him/His | Director, Student Enrichment Program

Marshall earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Iowa and his Master of Science in Student Personnel Administration from the University of Central Missouri. He has been at Western since 2010. He got off to a rocky start with his own college career and enjoys helping smooth the path for other students. His favorite part of orientation is seeing the confidence build in new students as they make friends and create their new community on campus. When Marshall is not biking with his daughter through Mo-Pendence, he likes to watch movies, listen to music, and play guitar.

Chris Solario

He/Him/His/Él | Assistant Director, Student Enrichment Program

Chris earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Western Oregon University, along with his Masters of Arts in Sociology and Master of Science in Education from Portland State University. He has been at Western since 2012. Chris’ favorite part of working with new students is helping them feel comfortable navigating WOU and succeeding in their education journey, from the first time they step on campus until they graduate. them, hearing their stories, and helping them through their first year of college. A fun fact about Chris is that he is a huge Los Angeles Dodgers fan and Disney theme park fanatic!

Allissa Whiting

She/Her/Hers | Administrative Program Assistant, Student Enrichment Program

Allissa earned her Bachelor of Arts in General Biology from Western Oregon University and is currently pursuing her Master of Arts in Psychology at the University of Oregon. She has been at Western since 2019. Adriana’s favorite part of working with new students is meeting them, hearing their stories, and helping them through their first year of college. A fun fact about Adriana is that she recently got a new puppy and they love hiking, camping, and visiting the beach!

Adriana earned her Bachelor of Science in Community Health Education from Western Oregon University. She has been at Western since 2013. Adriana’s favorite part of working with new students is seeing them succeed and grow, and being able to help them through their journey as they transition to WOU. A fun fact about Adriana is that she loves traveling to the Oregon Coast!

Alicia Monrroy

She/Her/Hers/Ella | Educational Advisor, Student Enrichment Program

Alicia earned her Bachelor of Science in Social Science from Western Oregon University. She has been at Western since 2007. Sheree’s favorite part of working with new students is being able to see students grow as individuals and accomplish their dreams. A fun fact about Alicia is that she loves watching Disney movies with her two toddlers!

Sheree Solario

She/Her/Hers | Educational Advisor, Student Enrichment Program

Sheree earned her Bachelor of Science in Business from Western Oregon University. She has been at Western since 2007. Sheree’s favorite part of working with new students is just being a part of their journey — watching them grow and change throughout their first year. A fun fact about Sheree is that she is a huge Disney fan and loves traveling to Disneyland and Disney World for vacations!

Ariel Zimmer Suel

She/Her/Hers | Educational Advisor, Student Enrichment Program

Ariel earned her Bachelor of Arts in Planning, Public Policy, and Management from the University of Oregon and her Master of Arts in Educational Leadership & Policy with a specialization in Postsecondary, Adult, and Continuing Education from Portland State University. She has been at Western since 2018. Ariel’s favorite part of working with new students is helping them learn to navigate WOU more independently. A fun fact about Ariel is that she was a competitive slam poet as an undergraduate college student!

Teacher Prep Student Support Services & Student Success and Advising

Jen Koshnick

She/Her/Hers | Director, Teacher Prep Student Support Services

Jen earned both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education from the University of Minnesota. Jen was a classroom teacher for several years and has been working in Student Affairs for the past 10 years. Jen’s favorite part of working with new students is helping them make connections on campus. Her favorite orientation activities are small group activities where students really get to know each other. A fun fact about Jen is that she was a teacher in Colombia for two years!

Travis Tyler

He/Him/His | Retention and Persistence Success Advisor, Student Success and Advising

Travis earned his Bachelor of Arts in English from Dartmouth College and his Master of Education in Higher Education from the University of Nevada — Las Vegas. He has been at Western since 2021. Travis’ favorite part of working with new students is helping them discover new ideas, interests, and passions. A fun fact about Travis is that he enjoys reading, writing, watching anime, and swimming!
