Dia de los Muertos
Dia de los Muertos (The Day of the Dead) is a time for the spirit of the deceased to return home and visit loved ones, feast on their favorite foods and listen to their favorite music. MSU honors our deceased with ofrendas, or offerings, which may consist of photographs, bread, other foods, flowers, toys and other symbolic offerings.
Out and Proud
Out & Proud is a vibrant celebration of identity, community, and self-expression! Join us for an engaging and inspiring event featuring powerful personal stories and meaningful conversations. Come connect, learn, and celebrate the diverse perspectives that make our WOU community so dynamic and unique.
African American Awareness Celebration
Celebrate the rich history, culture, and contributions of African Americans with us! This event welcomes faculty, staff, and students to enjoy engaging speakers, delicious food, and lively festivities. Come honor the stories, achievements, and traditions that have helped shape our community and nation.
Women of Culture
Women of Culture Celebration aims to honor and acknowledge the diversity within women in different communities. The purpose of this event is to bring awareness to our campus by providing workshops, keynote speakers and a variety of interactive activities involving different issues and aspects that affect women. This event is inclusive to both men and women in the pursuit of educating our campus on the importance of women’s rights within different traditions.
Pow Wow
Vendors, dancers, drummers, and fry bread come together to make the annual MSU Pow-Wow a vibrant celebration! The event features a lively dance competition open to all ages, from tiny tots to teens, men, and women. Categories include fancy dancing, traditional dancing, grass dancing, and jingle dancing. A delicious dinner is also part of the festivities, making the Pow-Wow a fun and memorable experience for everyone.
Nuestra Fiesta Latina
MSU invites everyone to join Nuestra Fiesta Latina, a fun-filled celebration for all ages! Enjoy live music, dancing, traditional food, and a festive “baile” to close the day. This event brings together our campus and local community to celebrate and experience the vibrant culture and traditions of the Latino community.
