We welcomed approximately 420 incoming students during PACK Connect Days (Prepare, Advise, Connect, Know) for summer orientation last month. Students had the opportunity to explore campus, housing, meet with academic advisors, and much more. There will be another chance later this month for students to visit campus, register for classes, and complete preparations for the upcoming academic year. It has been a pleasure to welcome many new students to campus this past month during PACK Connect Days (Prepare, Advise, Connect, Know). This series of orientation activities sets our students up for success, helping them get acquainted with the campus, meet new friends, and feel prepared for the exciting journey ahead.<\/em><\/p>\n

The teams leading orientation and advising efforts for WOU do a wonderful job of connecting students to our community.<\/em><\/p>\n

And speaking of building community, later this month on August 17, Western will participate in the Fiesta Mexicana Parade in Woodburn. We have strong relationships within that community, and we look forward to building many more. Look for us in the parade with former Oregon State Representative (and WOU alum) Teresa Alonso Leon and her family!<\/em><\/p>\n

Western Oregon University professor releases music album about his transformational life<\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n

Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy Ronnie Taylor recently released a music album, That One Black Kid, under the name Dr. PDX. Western Oregon University receives grant from Spirit Mountain Community Fund to support community needs<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n

Western Oregon University hosted regional gaming competition<\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n
