Regardless of your immigration status, you have guaranteed rights under the constitution. Learn more about your rights below.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_divider color=&#8221;#cccccc&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; width=&#8221;100px&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][\/et_pb_divider][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; header_line_height=&#8221;1.5em&#8221; header_2_font_size=&#8221;24px&#8221; background_size=&#8221;initial&#8221; background_position=&#8221;top_left&#8221; background_repeat=&#8221;repeat&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Know Your Rights<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>If you or someone you know is approached by law enforcement, attempt to stay calm and do not run.<\/p>\n<p>The Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC) provides, Know Your Rights (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ilrc.org\/redcards#print\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Red Cards<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>You have constitutional rights:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You do not have to open the door if an immigration agent is knocking on the door.<\/li>\n<li>You do not have to answer questions from an immigration agent if they try to talk to you. You have the right to remain silent.<\/li>\n<li>You have the right to speak with a lawyer. The ACLU also has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aclu.org\/we-have-rights\">Know Your Rights videos<\/a> to demonstrate situations that may come up for individuals.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ilrc.org\/resources\/know-your-rights-and-what-immigrant-families-should-do-now\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Know Your Rights and What Immigrants Families Should Do Now<\/a> The Immigrant Legal Resource Center provides documents in multiple languages about what everyone should know if approached by immigration enforcement.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ilrc.org\/resources\/step-step-family-preparedness-plan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Step-By-Step Preparedness Plan<\/a> The Immigrant Legal Resource Center recommends that every family should have a family preparedness plan in case of an emergency.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.informedimmigrant.com\/resources\/detention-deportation\/know-your-rights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Know Your Rights<\/a> The Informed Immigrant was founded in 2016, and continually evolves with the changing needs of immigrant-origin individuals and communities.
