FALL TERM – THE START OF SOMETHING GREAT!

Fall Term Move In Week:

Tentatively set for September 23 through September 26, 2021

Fall Term officially starts with the opening of the residence halls, and residential move-in, scheduled this year to take place September 23-26 by appointment only. To accommodate for physical distancing, should it still be needed,  individual Check-In appointments will be tentatively scheduled starting at 9:00 a.m. and running until 5 p.m. daily September 23-26.

  • The Move-In process will most likely start at the Stadium Parking Lot with COVID-19 Check-In Pre Screening. (See Campus Map links below).
  • We will be UNABLE to accommodate after hours check-ins. You must arrive to check in at your selected check-in time.

As we get closer to Fall Term, you will need to log onto your WOU Portal and look for University Housing Overview. Select and update a check-in time block by accessing the self-service icon under your name on the left side of your Overview page.

Fall classes start Monday, September 27.

This fall will mark the beginning of a fabulous new academic year!

Right now,, we expect the first stop on campus will be the Stadium Parking lot (Lot “G” on theCampus Map – link below) for COVID-19 Screening.  There will be signs posted – follow the signs!  From here, students will then check into the hall which they have been assigned to.

CONTRACT AND PLACEMENT INFORMATION

For all students who do not select a living space for next year, you will be directed to look online (your Housing Overview page – look for “University Housing Overview”) to see what hall you are placed in as well as who your roommate will be. (If you have a roommate, currently, the plan is for most accommodations to be singles.)  Any other changes made to placement information throughout the summer will show up on your Housing Overview as well.

  • Electronic contracts and an Emergency Information-Authorization Form (EIAF) for you to read and electronically submit have been routed!  NOTE:  BOTH of these items MUST be completed PRIOR to your check-in appointment.
  • TENTATIVE DEADLINE: 5 pm, Friday, August 13. Submit your signed contract and EIAF upon receipt to hold your housing reservation.
  • Log onto your Portal and look for “University Housing Overview” to access these important documents and to Choose Your Meal Plan!
  • Contracts NOT received by Move-In Week may be subject to cancellation of housing reservation.

Use Your Checklist. Pack and Get Ready to move to campus! The summer will FLY by – so get organized and packed ahead of time!

NOTE:  THERE ARE MICRO-FRIDGES IN ALL ROOMS with the exception of  ARBOR PARK! (The Arbor Park Apartments – Cedar, Noble and Spruce have full-sized refrigerator-freezers in each kitchen). PLEASE do NOT bring a microwave/refrigerator with you to campus!

MOVE-IN is tentatively scheduled to take place – by appointment only – over the course of several days, starting at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23 and ending at 5 pm on September 26. PRESENTLY, we have set a limit on how may people you can bring with you to move in. That limit is currently 2 people MAXIMUM to help you move in this year! 

NOTE – We are hoping that the vaccination process for COVID-19 has been well implemented prior to Fall 2021. If however it is not,  BEFORE you go to the hall that you have been assigned to, all students arriving to move in will need to go to the Stadium Parking lot for COVID-19 screening.  

Start by going down Church Street to the WOU Stadium Parking Lot (Lot “G”, C-5 on the Campus Map). Signs will direct you. You will check in with staff, and answer questions regarding your current health and the health of your helpers. Each student will then go through the quick COVID-19 screening process. Screening results will be processed while you continue your move-in process and shared with you same day. Note:  Should you screen positive for COVID-19 you will be asked to quarantine either at home or in one of our health recovery rooms within the residential complex until cleared by our Student Health Center. 

After you have completed the screening process, you will proceed to the hall assignment to check into your room or apartment, report as follows: (Current check-in locations are marked with a yellow star on the campus map). Don’t forget your face coverings!

  • ACKERMAN – Check-In at the Ackerman Hall Lobby
  • ARBOR PARK – Check-In at Sequoia Commons
  • BARNUM – Check-In at the Barnum Hall Lower Lounge
  • HERITAGE – Check-In at the Heritage Hall Lobby
  • LANDERS  – Check-In at the Landers Hall Lower Lounge

NEW STUDENT WEEK – Is NOW Fall Orientation, and will offer events to orient you to campus and provide opportunities for you to really experience campus life as you dive into Fall Term!

New Student Week at Western Oregon Univesity has traditionally been filled with fun, informative and interactive envents – ALL designed to set you up to succeed academically and emerse you within the life of the campus.

This year, in an effort to keep students as safe as possible, we are currently planning this event to be online! You can still find the same great content like: How to study smarter (not harder), finding your way around campus, tips for acing online courses, trying new things and discovering new resources and MEETING NEW FRIENDS! See the Welcome video from WOU President Rex Fuller from the 2020 Academic Year and below that the link into the WOU Network. Join the Fall Orientation community, and expreience all it has to offer! We are excited to OPEN VALSETZ DINING HALL  and welcome our students back on campus starting Thursday, September 23rd. This first week we will be open Monday – Friday for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, and on Saturday and Sunday, for Brunch and Dinner.

The “C” (Convenience) Store in Valsetz will be open all days.

For online ordering, download the Nutrislice app on your phone, and search for Valsetz. Follow the prompts from there. Once you add items to your cart, you will be asked to create an account. Remember to activate your 40% student discount, request to pay with Customer ID (your student V#)!
