You have been accepted to attend Western Oregon University, and submitted your housing application.
Check-in day is months away in September, and you are wondering . . . “Shouldn’t I hear something?”
No need to worry! Once you have applied to housing, we consider you family! You should get a confirmation email from University Housing shortly after you submit your application and then . . .
We will be in touch with you starting in the Spring to get you into the right group so that you can start meeting other incoming residents and finding your perfect match for your roommate(s). We will continue to reach out to you throughout the spring and summer leading up to Check-In Day! See below for our estimated timeline for this spring and summer!
As you can see, we keep in touch with you via your WOU email (available on the WOU Portal). Remember to become familiar with and check it often as we get closer to move-in day.

Moving Forward – Here is what you can expect to receive from University Housing from your Housing Confirmation to Move-In Day!
Shortly after receiving your housing application, you should receive an email confirming that we have received your application for on-campus housing.
LATE WINTER / EARLY SPRING:
Information and links to My College Roomie – the online space for you to find and connect with your perfect roommate(s)! This year, we are planning on sending out information to new incoming students in Mid March with details about how to access and search for roommates for the coming Housing Selection process that will start in May.
First-Year and Transfer students will see their designated time slot and the day when they will first have access to the Selection process to CHOOSE THEIR ROOM and (pull in their chosen roommates)!
You read that right – you will have the opportunity to CHOOSE your room!
LATE MAY through JULY:
The selection process for new incoming students to choose their living spaces begins and will run from Noon to 5 pm through the end of May. Selection will continue throughout the summer, ending in late July for the coming academic year.
SPRING eMAIL :
Routed in late May, this email is loaded with links. The Spring email packs a LOT of information in it – complete with links for you to access all kinds of information online from what to expect to insurance and computer information to leadership and employment opportunities on campus for the coming year.
Everybody is busy in June – some of you have to graduate – and we are busy moving our current residents out for this year, and prepping for Summer Conferences and SOAR sessions. We get back on track late in July when you will have access to your housing contract and emergency Information Authorization form to get them electronically signed and submitted by the contract deadline (tentatively set for August 14 this year – see below).
LATE JULY (continued):
Housing Contracts and your Emergency Information Authorization Form (EIAF) will be released at this time. You will need to read, and electronically submit both to University Housing by the contract deadline –
Tentatively set for 5:00 PM, AUGUST 14, 2020 this year. NOTE: Contracts are not valid until you check-in, but you can NOT check-in without BOTH your contract and EIAF completed and on file. Avoid the hassle later – electronically submit your contract & EIAF asap to hold your housing reservation!
- You have until 5 pm August 14th to read and electronically submit both your contract and Emergency Information Authorization Form. Contracts NOT received by the August 14, 2020 deadline may be subject to cancellation of housing reservation.
For students who choose NOT to select their space and roommates, or for students who miss the July 22, 2020 deadline to apply. (You must have a completed housing application on file by July 22, 2020 to be eligible to participate in the room selection process. Applicants who submit a housing application after 5:00 pm, July 22, 2020 will be placed in an appropriate hall by housing staff.)
This email will direct students online to access placement and roommate information (for applicants who do not choose to pick their own space, or miss the deadline to do so.)
THE FINAL TOUCH:
Sent out after Labor Day, this email is the final “official” correspondence from University Housing before move-in day. On-Campus addresses for the academic year are released, and last minute information regarding move-in day is passed along.
