Summer Stayover Frequently Asked Questions

PLANNING ON LIVING ON CAMPUS THIS SUMMER?
Did you renew your housing for the coming year?

If you answered “Yes” to the above then read on – Here are some answers to frequently asked questions about the Summer Stayover Program

 

  • HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM A SUMMER STAYOVER OR A SUMMER SCHOOL STUDENT?

    If you were a resident during the 2018-2019 Academic Year and have Renewed your housing to live on campus for the coming academic year, YOU ARE ELIGIBLE TO BE A SUMMER STAYOVER RESIDENT.

    Your account will be billed each month for the entire summer and you will be paying “rent” at the first of each month. You are NOT required to attend summer classes to participate in the stayover program, though you are welcome to do so if you wish. (Summer School residents will only live on campus for a set time-period during the summer and be billed ONLY for that time period. Summer school residents are REQUIRED to attend classes to live on campus, and are NOT required to renew their academic year housing for the coming year).

     

  • WHERE WILL I LIVE?

    You will be living in Arbor Park.

     

  • WHEN CAN I MOVE INTO MY SUMMER APARTMENT?

    Tentative plans are for  you to move to your Summer Stayover housing on Tuesday, June 18. Please go to the RSC between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to get your summer room keys and receive moving instructions. Note:  You must have all of your items moved out of your old (academic year) space and have your move completed by 5:00 pm, June 18th.

  • WHERE DO I LIVE BETWEEN JUNE 14th AND JUNE 18th

    You will stay in your current room. You will checkout ONLY ON PAPER (see bullet below) on Friday the 14th, but will stay in your current room until June 18th.      NOTE: You should keep your belongings somewhat packed up and ready to move during this time period as you WILL be moving into your summer apartment in just a few days. REMEMBER YOU ARE STILL RESPONSIBLE FOR LEAVING YOUR CURRENT ROOM CLEAN AND READY FOR NEW OCCUPANTS!

     

  • WHAT ABOUT CHECKING-OUT OF MY CURRENT ROOM?

    At the end of Spring Term, you will complete and sign off on the checkout paperwork as if you were actually leaving the residence halls – but you won’t ACTUALLY MOVE until June 18th. YOU NEED TO GO THROUGH THE PROCESS AS IF YOU WERE CHECKING-OUT FOR THE SUMMER. You will sign-up for a checkout appointment with an RA (sign-up lists will be posted in the lobby or lounge of your hall).
    You do not have to have all of your belongings packed up at this time, but the RA will need to be able to see most of the spaces in your room, and your room should be relatively clean to complete the Room Condition Report (RCR) for a checkout. Once the RA has inspected your room, you will sign the RCR to show your agreement of the condition, but you will not leave your room at this time. You will keep your key and remain in your room until June 18th. You can pick up your keys to your summer space at the RSC between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on June 18th.  They will give you further instructions on completing your move. You must have all of your items moved out of your old (academic year) space and have your move completed by 5:00 pm, June 18th. 

     

  • WHAT ABOUT CHECKING-OUT OF MY SUMMER ROOM AT THE END OF THE SUMMER?

    TENTATIVELY, you will check into your Fall space on AUGUST 29 between 8 am and 5 pm.
    You will move your stuff into your new room and then go back to the RSC to checkout of your summer room.
    REMEMBER, YOU NEED TO BE HERE TO MAKE THIS MOVE – Plan accordingly Following is the tentative timeline for this process:

  • STARTING AT 8 a.m. AUGUST 29 – Please go to the RSC in the morning. Staff will be on hand to check you into your new room (the room that you have been assigned to for the 2019-2020 academic year).
  • Move all of your stuff by 5 p.m.
  • Go to the RSC to sign your RCR for your summer room and turn in your summer keys.

IMPORTANT: You must still go through the checkout and check-in processes on paper –  even if your new (2019-2020 academic year) room is the same as your summer room!

 

  • WHO WILL I GO TO IF I NEED ASSISTANCE DURING THE SUMMER?

    Please contact the RSC at 503-838-8363 throughout the summer. RSC summer hours are Sunday through Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to Midnight. University Housing office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

     

  • HOW DO I RECEIVE MAIL DURING THE SUMMER?

    You will keep your same RSC box and receive mail and packages just like you do now!

     

  • HOW DO I CONTACT THE RSC?

     

    The RSC is located on the southeast corner of the Valsetz Dining Hall building. Their phone number is 503-838-8363. RSC summer hours are Sunday through Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to Midnight.

     

  • HOW DO I CONTACT THE HOUSING OFFICE?

    If you have any other questions about summer housing, please contact University Housing at housing@wou.edu or at 503-838-8311. Office hours are Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
