WOU Giving Day Toolkit

Western Oregon University’s annual day of giving takes place on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. During this 24-hour period, our alumni, friends, students, and employees will attempt to raise $250,000 in support of various scholarships, programs, and clubs. Social media is at the core of our Giving Day success and we’d love your support!

Gifts can be made at wou.edu/give or by calling 503-838-8814.

On this page, you’ll find all the tools you need to get involved in Giving Day and help spread the word to your networks. We want to grow by the power of together and we need you to help make that happen!

We’ve provided graphics and sample social media text for you to share on your social media accounts. The information is broken down by save the date pieces for before Giving Day, posts on Giving Day, and thank you pieces for after Giving Day. Most pieces can be used as they are, but a couple of them are customizable. Please read the notes with those graphics on customization.

Tag us! If you’re posting about Giving Day, please tag the official WOU accounts: @WOUnews on InstagramFacebook and Twitter.

All the hashtags: The official Giving Day hashtag is #WOUgivingday and we like to also use #WolvesGiveBack. WOU’s official all-purpose hashtag is #HowlAboutIt. Feel free to use all three! But please use at least #WOUgivingday.

After you make a gift at wou.edu/give, the confirmation screen will invite you to share with your networks that you gave a gift through a feature called Givalanche. With one click you can share to Facebook, Twitter, email or snag a link you can send to anyone. The system tracks who made gifts based on your link and you’ll get email updates to show you the impact of your generosity and sharing.

Keep an eye out for these options on your confirmation screen or your email confirmation of your gift. Here’s a screenshot of what you’ll see.

In addition to the specific graphics and sample social media posts further down on this page, we wanted to share some ideas of things you could post to help grow an incredible Giving Day.
