The Division of Health & Exercise Science is pleased to welcome Dr. Daniel Dowhower to its faculty this fall. Dr. Dowhower, who has a doctorate in public health from Oregon State University, will be teaching undergraduate health courses this fall.<\/p>\n[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https:\/\/wou.edu\/education\/files\/2020\/11\/DanDowhower.jpg” title_text=”Dan Dowhower” _builder_version=”4.6.5″ hover_enabled=”0″ sticky_enabled=”0″][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_text admin_label=”Story Text” module_class=”aks-mod” _builder_version=”4.6.5″]
Dr. Dowhower said he was honored to be hired by the College of Education.<\/p>\n
\u201cWOU is quite a special place not only for the students but for the employees too. I have felt so welcomed and supported since arriving and that experience has been consistent across the entire campus,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Dr. Dowhower, who was an instructor at Oregon State University before he was hired at WOU, also has a masters in public health from the Corvallis-based university and a masters in industrial\/organizational psychology from Illinois Institute of Technology.<\/p>\n
Dr. Dowhower\u2019s past research has focused on understanding the effects of stigma and discrimination on safer sex practices and the challenges faced by long-term survivors of HIV, particularly in later life.
