Andrew has also been involved in Undergraduate Chemistry Research studying the insecticidal effects of <em>Pseudomonas fluorescens<\/em> on the development and growth of the fruit fly, <em>Drosophila melanogaster<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wou.edu\/chemistry\/files\/2015\/05\/anton-lemeza-ii.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wou.edu\/chemistry\/files\/2015\/05\/anton-lemeza-ii.jpg\" alt=\"anton lemeza ii\" class=\"wp-image-1344 alignleft\" height=\"189\" width=\"233\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wou.edu\/chemistry\/files\/2015\/05\/anton-lemeza-ii.jpg 731w, https:\/\/wou.edu\/chemistry\/files\/2015\/05\/anton-lemeza-ii-300x243.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 233px) 100vw, 233px\" \/><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Anton Lemeza &#8211;<\/strong>\u00a0 Anton served as a student intern at <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kerrconcentrates.com\/\">Kerr Concentrates, Inc<\/a><\/span> in Salem Oregon. During his internship, Anton served as a Quality Control Inspector with the company regularly sampling the products at various stages of production to ensure product quality. QC measures include alcohol content, citric acid content, specific gravity, Brix values and color using UV-Vis Spectrophotometry.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"r\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wou.edu\/chemistry\/files\/2015\/05\/zach-ii.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wou.edu\/chemistry\/files\/2015\/05\/zach-ii.jpg\" alt=\"zach ii\" class=\"wp-image-1348 alignnone alignleft\" height=\"187\" width=\"137\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wou.edu\/chemistry\/files\/2015\/05\/zach-ii.jpg 471w, https:\/\/wou.edu\/chemistry\/files\/2015\/05\/zach-ii-220x300.jpg 220w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 137px) 100vw, 137px\" \/><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"r\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Zach Rozinek &#8211;<\/strong> Zach served as an Undergraduate Research Intern with\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"https:\/\/www.westernu.edu\/stp\/bios.php?bio=jmata\">Dr. John Mata<\/a><\/span> at the Western University of Health Sciences in Lebanon, OR.\u00a0 Within Dr. Mata&#8217;s laboratory, Zach gained experience establishing human hematopoetic stem cell lines in tissue culture, and then using these lines to determine gene expression patterns using real time PCR.\u00a0 Dr. Mata has special interest in determining if age, lifestyle and socioeconomic factors affect telomere length and can be used as a predictive indicator for diseases of aging <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wou.edu\/chemistry\/files\/2015\/05\/richelle-iv.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wou.edu\/chemistry\/files\/2015\/05\/richelle-iv.jpg\" alt=\"richelle iv\" class=\"wp-image-1355 alignleft\" height=\"176\" width=\"138\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wou.edu\/chemistry\/files\/2015\/05\/richelle-iv.jpg 379w, https:\/\/wou.edu\/chemistry\/files\/2015\/05\/richelle-iv-234x300.jpg 234w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 138px) 100vw, 138px\" \/><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Richelle McDaniel &#8211;<\/strong> Richelle received a <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"https:\/\/wou.edu\/student\/career\/student\/woucip.php\">WOU CiP Internship<\/a><\/span> from the Chemistry Department to participate in a job shadowing experience with Isaac Hendler, M.A.C. at\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"http:\/\/intacupuncture.com\/\">Integrative Acupuncture and Natural Therapeutics<\/a><\/span> in Corvallis, OR. During the internship, Richelle learned about alternative medical practices, such as acupuncture, massage therapy, and Traditional Chinese Medicine, that patients use to integrate with Western medicine treatment strategies<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wou.edu\/chemistry\/files\/2015\/05\/steven.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wou.edu\/chemistry\/files\/2015\/05\/steven.jpg\" alt=\"steven\" class=\"wp-image-1364 alignleft\" height=\"208\" width=\"142\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wou.edu\/chemistry\/files\/2015\/05\/steven.jpg 265w, https:\/\/wou.edu\/chemistry\/files\/2015\/05\/steven-205x300.jpg 205w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 142px) 100vw, 142px\" \/><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Steven Korecki &#8211;<\/strong> Steven was awarded a <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wou.edu\/student\/career\/student\/woucip.php\" style=\"color: #0000ff\">WOU CiP Internship<\/a><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #000000\">for Undergraduate Teaching in Chemistry.
