The Campus Recreation Department is considered an Auxiliary Enterprise and is designed to provide recreational services to students, faculty, staff, other institutional departments, or incidentally to the general public. As such, the designed distinguishing characteristic of an auxiliary enterprise is that it is managed as an essentially self-supporting activity. The majority of the Campus Recreation Department’s funding comes from the Incidental Fee, a set amount that every student pays each term as part of Western Oregon University’s tuition and fees.

Strategic Plan of Campus Recreation Department

The Campus Recreation Strategic Plan 2017-2020 provided the department an opportunity to create a Mission Statement and develop Values, and establish a series of goals, strategies, and metrics that will guide efforts, both as a comprehensive department, and as individual units within our department. It will allow us to continue to achieve our mission, in ways that are consistent with our values, and our commitment to the greater objectives of Student Affairs and our University.
