Morgan is a fourth year from a town outside of Chicago Illinois. She is majoring in ASL and psychology with a minor in Social Science. Is is very involved around campus and can be seen making a difference on campus in more places than just ASWOU. She is very passionate about community and the students here at WOU. She is passionate that small government is essential and has a big impact on our experiences in student life. She also has an obsession with Squishmallows!<\/p>\n

Lukas is a second year accounting student from Dallas, Oregon. Being an accounting major they are super passionate about math and are involved in Math Club as well as being on ASWOU. He is a strong believer in making safe places and environments for all students on campus and enjoys being involved with students and activities. He joined ASWOU because he enjoyed being in a position to provide club support and wanted to be more involved with clubs around campus. He has seen that campus organizations are a great place to foster interests and relationships, and wants to see them at their fullest potential and help foster that.<\/p>\n

Goals for the academic year
<\/strong>My biggest academic goal is to graduate with all the pieces of my degree within the time frame of this year, which means I need to stay up to date with my deadlines and remove “procrastination” from my mental lexicon.<\/p>\n

What you want students to know about your role?
<\/strong>My role is to support the executive team and keep things running smoothly\u2014whether that’s scheduling meetings, creating agendas, and making sure communication stays clear and consistent. Think of me as the connector who helps you find the right answers from the right people.<\/p>\n

Meet your\u00a0<\/span>ASWOU Executive Cabinet<\/span>!<\/h1>\n

The Executive Branch consists of the\u00a0President\u00a0and\u00a0Vice President. These two positions are elected by the Western Oregon University student body. Executive Cabinet is hired as the ASWOU President deems it necessary. The basic function of the Executive Cabinet is to assist the President in meeting the needs of the students and amplifying their voices. The positions are set up to address the concerns and needs that are expressed by students on campus and may\u00a0vary from year to year.<\/span><\/h3>\n

\n\nASWOU President<\/span>\u00a0| Logan Jackson| she\/her\/hers<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0| aswoupresident@wou.edu<\/a> |503.838.8555<\/span><\/strong>\n\n<\/span>\n\nThe ASWOU President is the head of the Executive Branch. Elected by their peers, the President serves a full academic year and can only serve another year if re-elected in the spring. The primary job of the ASWOU President is to represent the students of Western Oregon University to not only the WOU administration but at a local\/state\/federal level as well.\u00a0<\/span>\n\nOn top of advocating for the rights of students, the President is responsible for the inter-workings of ASWOU. They select any Executive Cabinet members, attend Senate and Judicial Board meetings, appoint students to committees across the campus, as well as sit on MANY themselves, serve on the Oregon Student Association's Board of Governors, and have a running list of other various duties.<\/span>\n\n
\n\nASWOU Vice President | Devin Thongdy| he\/him\/his \u00a0| aswouvp@wou.edu<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/strong>\n\nThe ASWOU Vice President is the second individual responsible for the ASWOU organization after the ASWOU President. The Vice President is responsible for assisting the President as necessary. <\/span>In addition, the Vice President works internally (on the WOU campus) to ensure students have the best possible education and life at Western.<\/span>\n\n
\n\nChief of Staff<\/b> | Collin Hulling| he\/him\/his\u00a0 | <\/span><\/span><\/strong>aswou@wou.edu<\/strong><\/a>\n\n\"\"\n\nThe ASWOU Chief of Staff acts as a supervisor to the other positions within the Executive Cabinet, in addition to being a supporting staff member to all cabinet positions. Through weekly meetings, this position will ensure programming is being done properly and help in the development of program ideas. This position will also act as a liaison between the Executive Cabinet and the ASWOU President and Vice President.<\/span>\n\nBasic Job Requirements:<\/span><\/strong>\n\n- Hold weekly one-on-one meetings with ASWOU Executive Cabinet<\/span>\n\n- Ensure successful programming<\/span>\n\n- Ensure the cabinet has the necessary materials\n\n- Run the ASWOU book exchange<\/span>\n\n
\n\nDirector of Business & Finance<\/span> |Daniel Rich|he\/him\/his | <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span>aswoubusfin@wou.edu<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\n\n\"\"\n\nThe ASWOU Director of Business and Finance is responsible for all financial activity within ASWOU and its chartered clubs and organizations. This position is tasked with accurately maintaining records of all ASWOU budgets and communicating financial information to responsible parties. They also act upon requests for monies from ASWOU and its chartered organizations. This position ensures all state and university policies are being upheld and advocates for proper access and use of student fees. This director is also responsible for preparing and presenting the ASWOU budget to the Incidental Fee Committee (IFC).<\/span>\nBasic Job Requirements:<\/span><\/strong>\n\n- Review and process club financial paperwork<\/span>\n\n- Present the ASWOU Budget to the Incidental Fee Committee (IFC)<\/span>\n\n- Make financial recommendations about the ASWOU budget to the President<\/span>\n\n

\n\nDirector of <\/strong><\/span>State & Federal Affairs | McKenna Sieg|she\/her\/hers\u00a0 | <\/span><\/span><\/strong>aswoustate@wou.edu<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\n\nThe ASWOU Director of State and Federal Affairs is responsible for ASWOU\u2019s relationship with legislators in the capital and for bringing information regarding political issues affecting students to WOU\u2019s campus. This position will require the student to work on campus, state, and as part of national campaigns. Work will focus on issues affecting WOU students and their rights. This position works directly with the Oregon Student Association (OSA), a coalition of public universities and community colleges, as a member of their Board of Directors to aid in accomplishing goals.\u00a0<\/span>\n\nBasic Job Requirements:<\/span><\/strong>\n\n- Sits on the Board of Governors with the ASWOU President and represents WOU at the Oregon Student Association (OSA)<\/span>\n\n- Attend monthly OSA meetings<\/span>\n\n- Oversees the VOTE team and any other OSA projects\/campaigns<\/span>\n\n

This position is responsible for promoting cultural diversity on campus and serves as a liaison between ASWOU and the many diverse ASWOU Chartered Student Organizations and departments on campus. This position also works with the Oregon Student Association (OSA), a coalition of public universities and community colleges, and sits on the Oregon Students of Color Coalition Board (OSCC).\u00a0<\/span>\n\nBasic Job Requirements:<\/span><\/strong>\n\n- Attend all OSA Meetings and sit on the Oregon Students of Color Coalition Board\u00a0(OSCC)<\/span>\n\n- Bring decisions\/conversations back to WOU campus from all OSA meetings<\/span>\n\n- Plan termly event focused on cultural awareness\/issues<\/span>\n\n
\n\nDirector of <\/span><\/strong>Equity | Tatiana-Marie Whitlow| they\/them\/theirs | <\/span><\/strong><\/span>aswouequity@wou.edu<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\n\nThe ASWOU Director of Equity is responsible for advocating for conversations about and action against the unequal treatment of students at Western Oregon University with emphasis on the LGBTQ population and their allies, and accessibility issues. They will serve as a liaison between ASWOU and the Oregon Student Association (OSA) by sitting on the Oregon Students Equal Rights Alliance board (OSERA). This position is responsible for increasing awareness and for the education of students on the issues and benefits surrounding gender and sexual diversity. As the lead advertiser in the office, this position is to work collaboratively with the other ASWOU Cabinet Members to ensure that all aspects of student needs are being addressed in their events. Through news updates, official statements, and other platforms, this position will distribute information about and encourage students to participate in ASWOU, clubs and organizations, and their activities\/initiatives.<\/span>\n\nBasic Job Requirements:<\/span><\/strong>\n\n- Promote ASWOU through many\u00a0different\u00a0channels (events, newspaper, social media, etc.)<\/span>\n\n- Maintain ASWOU Social Media outlets<\/span>\n\n- Photograph students participating in ASWOU activities<\/span>\n\n

This position is tasked with the visual aspects of advertising to include: poster design, website maintenance, Tinkle Times, and the ASWOU Chalkboard and TV.\u00a0<\/span>\n\nBasic Job Requirements:<\/span><\/strong>\n\n- Promote ASWOU through many different channels (Engage, Tinkle Times, TV's, chalkboard, etc.)<\/span>\n\n- Assist student clubs\/organizations with their advertisement designs<\/span>\n\n- Maintain ASWOU's Engage presence<\/span>\n\n

Attendance is also expected at all emergency meetings held within these branches. This position will also attend monthly meetings of the ASWOU Representative Assembly, and be responsible for the minutes of the three boards therein. This position is responsible for typing the minutes of these meetings accurately and in accordance with Oregon Public Meeting Law.<\/span>\nBasic Job Requirements:<\/span><\/strong>\n\n- Take accurate minutes of all ASWOU meetings<\/span>\n\n
