Gender Affirming Support
In 2026, Kai Gallegos established the Gender Affirming Closet within the Stonewall Center. This closet was created to provide students at WOU with items that can help them feel more authentically themselves.
We understand gender affirming items can be hard to obtain, whether it be because of financial situations or other extenuating personal circumstances. Providing a safe space where students can easily access these items and do so without judgement is critical in ensuring WOU is an LGBTQIA2S+ affirming space. We want our WOU community to not only feel accepted and comfortable here, but also valued and supported.
The Gender Affirming Closet is located in the Stonewall Center and offers these items: makeup, brushes, wigs, press on nails, hair products, perfume, cologne, ties, chest binders, packers, tucking underwear, some clothing (more can be found at the Stitch Closet in the Welcome Center), and Clean and Care First AID Kits.
Stonewall Center’s Gender Affirming Closet also accepts donations. A list of acceptable donation items can be found here. If you have any questions or would like to donate, please contact us at stonewall@mail.wou.edu or visit us in WUC 110.
