MONMOUTH, Ore. — The swimming pool at Western Oregon University is closed effective immediately for structural repairs. The work is expected to take around eight months, with reopening anticipated in late spring/early summer 2027.
The project includes:
- Repairing the pool’s concrete shell
- Replacing the gutter coping
- Expanding the vinyl liner system
- Addressing cracks and expansion joints in the pool deck
“The WOU pool is a place where students build healthy habits, where our community learns to swim, and where people of all ages come together,” said Rip Horsey, Director of Campus Recreation. “Protecting that resource means taking care of it, and these repairs will ensure the pool remains safe and welcoming for generations of Wolves and neighbors to come. We look forward to reopening in the spring.”
Questions may be directed to campusrec@wou.edu and project updates can be found on the aquatics page.
