Summer Orientation Advising and Registration - SOAR

SOAR Program

What is SOAR?

For admitted freshman: registration required

SOAR refers to Western Oregon University’s Summer Orientation, Advising and Registration program for admitted freshmen. At SOAR, freshmen will take the math placement test, attend academic advising with faculty, complete the registration process for fall term courses, learn about valuable campus resources and receive their student ID cards.

The 2013 SOAR dates are:

Saturday, July 13, 2013
Saturday, July 27, 2013

Freshmen admitted for Fall Term 2013 are required to attend one of the SOAR programs. The Office of Admissions anticipates mailing SOAR packets, which will include program registration instructions and Block Schedule information, in the middle of May. Students will register for SOAR and rank their Block Schedule preferences using their WOU Portal.

Hawaii SOAR

Note: Admitted freshmen from the state of Hawaii are invited to attend WOU’s orientation and registration program on the island of Oahu.

When: Sunday, April 21, 2013

Time: 12:00pm - 4:00pm

Location: The Hilton, Waikiki Beach; Honolulu, HII

The WOU Alumni Association will host an event for alumni and families attending Hawaii SOAR. The Alumni Associate event will begin at the conclusion of the Hawaii SOAR program.

California SOAR

Note: Admitted freshmen from the state of California are invited to attend WOU’s orientation and registration program in Northern or Southern CA.

Northern California:

When: Monday, May 20, 2013

Time: 6:00pm - 9:30pm

7:20 a.m.	Check-in & Student ID Cards – For Students required to take both the Biology Placement Test and the Mathematics Placement Test
8:00 a.m.	Administration of Biology Placement Test & Core of Campus Tours for Family Members/Guests
8:15 a.m.	Check-in & Student ID Cards - For students taking the Mathematics Placement Test or only the Biology Placement Test Advising Session for Students Admitted to the Student Enrichment Program (SEP)
