Mission
To prepare teachers to work with students with mild or severe disabilities. Candidates who successfully complete this program fulfill the requirement of the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) and are eligible for initial teacher licensure in Oregon.
Credit Requirements
- MS in Education: Special Education - 45 credits
- Special Educator I (for students with teaching license)
- Special Educator II (for students without teaching license)
Program Format
The Master of Science in Education: Special Education requires a minimum of 45 graduate credits of which the majority are in special education. Students entering this program may include content from license/endorsement programs such as the special educator or the early intervention special education programs. Candidates may have, but are not required to have prior teaching license. For full-time Special Educator I and Special Educator II candidates, the endorsement/licensure program extends over six terms beginning Fall term (e.g, Fall 2010) and ending in Spring term (e.g., Spring 2012).
