Scott Jackson attended Flowing Wells High School in Tucson, Arizona. After joining the United States Army, he was stationed with the 11th armored Cavalry Regiment “Blackhorse” in Fulda Germany. Leaving active duty military service in 1991, he remained in the Oregon Army National Guard until his retirement in November 2008.

His criminal justice career began when he returned from Germany and went to work for the Arizona Department of Corrections. While traveling through Oregon in 1995, he stumbled upon the Willamette Valley and immediately knew he had to live here. He took his picture standing at the Benton County Jail on in Corvallis, returned to Arizona, and submitted a 30-day notice.

Scott has been employed with the Benton County Sheriff’s Office since moving to Oregon. Scott has worked most of this time in the Benton County Jail being hired full time in 1995, promoted to Corporal in 1998, Sergeant in 2005, Lieutenant (Jail Commander) in 2007, and Undersheriff in 2008. As Undersheriff, Scott is responsible for the day-to-day activities of all divisions within the Sheriff's Office.
