Certification and Licensure: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Oregon Approved Supervisor for Licensed Professional Counselors (Oregon) Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) Professional: Julia has had the good fortune of being affiliated with Western Oregon University (WOU) since 1977 when she attended the Rehabilitation Counseling: Deafness graduate program at the then entitled Oregon College of Education. Since 1984 she has been both Director of Disability Services, and Counselor at the WOU Counseling Center. In addition, she has taught in the Rehabilitation Counselor Education (RCE) program since 1984. She also has been a RSA Long-Term Training Grant Project Director and Coordinator of the RCE program,. On top of her work with WOU, Julia has also worked as a rehabilitation mental health counselor with deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing adults and couples for over 23 years. She is member of the Governor appointed Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists since 2006. Julia's current research interests include deaf students' success in mainstream colleges, effective interviewing tips for applicants who are deaf or hard of hearing, and the ethical responsibilities of professional rehabilitation counselors. Personal:Julia has lived in the beautiful mid-Willamette valley for over 30 years. When time permits she loves to take advantage of the great outdoors by hiking, kayaking, white river rafting, and camping. |
