Clash for Cash ramps up Battle in Seattle competition

for release: Sept. 16, 2010

MONMOUTH – Alongside the second annual Battle in Seattle event where Western Oregon University’s football team takes on Central Washington University’s, a challenge in giving has been set. The Annual Funds for each school are competing to see who can raise the most cash for student scholarships. This philanthropic battle starts Saturday, Sept. 18 and continues through the end of the Battle in Seattle game, which takes place at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16 at Qwest Field.

"This is an exciting opportunity for everyone to get involved, even if they can’t come to the game. I think that supporters of WOU as a collective can really blow this competition out of the water,” said Melissa Carlin, the annual fund program assistant for University Advancement at WOU.

To make a donation for Clash for Cash, visit wou.edu/giving and designate “C4C” in the comment section so the donation is tallied for this competition. Or contact Melissa Carlin, annual fund program assistant, at 503-838-8814 or carlinm@wou.edu to make a donation over the phone.

Tickets for Battle in Seattle are $35 (club level) and $25 (reserved) and can be purchased by calling Michael Feuling in Athletics at 503-838-8449 or feulingm@wou.edu. There will be a pre-game tailgater, hosted by the WOU Alumni Association, in the Fox Sports Lounge at Qwest Field from 3 to 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance or $20 at the door. Transportation is also available through a chartered coach to and from the game. The cost is $10 per person and pick-up locations are in Monmouth and Portland. Contact the Alumni Relations Office at 503-838-8153 or alumni@wou.edu to reserve a space on one of the buses.
