Welcome to WOU’s Textbook Rental Program

WOU is pleased to be able to develop a textbook rental program that provides WOU students with a truly green way to get the textbook and course materials needed for their classes. The rental program is green in that it saves students green (cash) by offering textbooks for rental at prices that are significantly below the cost of retail and green on the environment because the bookstore will take back for reuse all textbooks that are rented.

The rental program is supported by a 2010 grant from the US Department of Education’s Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE). WOU grant award # P116T100041
FIPSE

The FIPSE funding was awarded based upon a grant proposal submitted by WOU in 2010.

The Grant’s Team: Principle Investigator: David McDonald, Associate Provost
Project Director: Mark Lane, Bookstore Manager
Assessment Coordinator: Dr. Christina Reagle
External Evaluator: Dr. Tony Norman

Goals of the Project

  • Full functionality
  • Cost savings to students when compared to textbook purchases
  • Enhanced understanding of course materials needs of faculty and students at WOU
